“I truly believe to restore well you have to understand the original makers hand.”
About
Alexander is the second generation of antique conservator and restorers in his family, his father trained and nurtured his keen eye which sparked a curiosity and lead to mastering his craft.
Alexander graduated from Kent Institute of Art and Design with a BA diploma in jewellery, silver and goldsmithing, and art history. He launched his first collection of jewellery and silversmithing at Goldsmiths Fair in 2004.
His early career began at Burghley House in an established on-site workshop his father had, which Alexander took over when he retired. He honed a variety of skills from other master conservators and restorers based in the Elizabethan stately home. This had always exposed Alexander to high quality master pieces from a young age, and he studied with his father, developing a breadth of techniques.
“I approach each object in an individual way, understanding many materials and techniques old and new gives me a flexibility to my restoring methods.”.
